Commercial Analyst

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an analytically minded graduate or early career analyst to join us within our commercial team to drive increased customer and business understanding of our  pricing and promotions.

We work across the Commercial teams to practise data led decision making. We achieve this through clear and concise communication of occasionally complex information. 

This role would be perfect for an early career analyst or a graduate looking to start their career and develop their core business + data analysis skills. All you need is the right mindset to look at various data, explaining different trends and supporting various departments with their business decisions.


What you’ll be doing

  • Develop a deep understanding of the pricing system, pricing strategy and products.

  • Product and Customer Insight and Reporting

  • Ensure Wickes have great prices for customers 

  • Create the weekly reporting of Wickes price position and drive price competitiveness across the business

  • Working closely with the Trade Planning manager and data analytics team to ensure we have all relevant and accurate reporting set up for full visibility of automated pricing

  • Liaise with 3rd Party data suppliers to maintain data accuracy and specify additional project based work

  • Increase commercial engagement with 3rd party software

  • Using price and promotions tools to generate reports, alerts and monitor price changes.

  • Design and produce regular reporting to support decision making across the business and present conclusions across a wide range of topics

  • Supporting the Commercial Teams 

  • Provide information to support the Range Review process, shaping future ranges and displays

  • Investigate competitor price moves and recommend how Wickes responds in the market



Competitor and Market awareness:

Work closely with the Insights team to put the customer at the heart of everything we do. Undertake regular competitor visits to understand and report competitor activity. Maintain a wide awareness of retail and customer trends and use this to drive the business forward. Make Wickes a better place to shop.


Skills & Experience:

  • Degree qualified (maths or science is beneficial) with A-Level Maths

  • An analytical and curious mind

  • Team player

  • Good time management

  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.

  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of problem-solving skills and initiative.

  • SQL

  • Google Data Studio (Or any equivalent visualisation tool experience)

  • Keen to learn and work within Google Big Query

  • Microsoft Excel (Particularly Pivot Tables & Vlookups)
