Business Development Executive

We are seeking a Business Development Executive to drive Wickes' Business to Business (B2B) growth strategy. This role reports to the B2B TradePro National Account Manager,  and collaborates closely with B2B Marketing Manager, and cross-functional teams to expand our B2B operations. The focus is on creating a sustainable pipeline that aligns with Wickes' business strategy and TradePro expansion plans. Responsibilities include optimising operational efficiency, managing customer recruitment, database maintenance, and providing detailed reports. Please note this is predominately a remote working role with the expectation of working in the Support Centre in Watford when necessary. 

Also, as the role involves significant travel to exhibitions and visiting clients it is imperative the successful candidate has a full drivers licence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support, identify and drive the inclusion of new opportunities in the Win Work pipeline.

  • Analyse the TradePro customer base across Wickes to establish a best practice to retention and growth and customer acquisition in new B2B market sectors 

  • Support the NAM with CRM maintenance and ensuring accurate records.

  • Assist with internal reporting and administration, serving as an additional contact for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead early-stage outreach with prospects through combinations of email, phone, and LinkedIn messaging

  • Contribute to the development and execution of sales strategies and team meetings.

  • Articulate the unique value proposition of the product and stimulate potential customer interest in B2B proposition

  • Provide essential feedback to the product development team, helping refine the MVP based on customer interactions and responses.

  • Utilise CRM system to manage potential client relationships, record activities, and maintain sales process visibility.

  • Manage pipeline reporting (performance vs. plan) and other regular reporting tools and activities

  • Use Wickes TradPro data to consider implications for existing and new sectors.

  • Work with the Customer Insights team to understand trends, business and project drivers of sectors, customers, and potential B2B opportunities.

  • Build on an established network of contacts across Wickes' B2B target sectors to bring opportunities into the business that can be converted into partners.

  • Serve as an additional internal contact coordinating with internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.

  • Liaise with local stores and category managers to maintain an overview of clients requiring quoting for large orders from initiation to completion.

What are we looking for:

  • Experience in sales with a strong track record of generating new business.

  • Experience in building and nurturing B2B relationships to deliver improved service and innovation to the customer.

  • Existing experience in a B2B sales environment; 

  • Knowledge of Trade or Construction would be desirable but not essential

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets and KPIs.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with CRM systems (such as Salesforce, D365) reporting applications and presentations

  • Formal selling skills training is advantageous.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to seek and develop new relationships to achieve strategic business objectives.

  • Ability to convert client relationships into opportunities for the business.

  • Create a culture of constructive and effective communication.

  • Communicate with authority and conviction in all situations with all levels of staff/client organisations.

  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to tasks and initiatives.

  • Prioritises customer satisfaction and building long-term relationships.

  • Displays initiative, creativity, and a willingness and a problem solving, can do attitude

  • Ability to contribute to the development of strategy 

  • Recognise changing market forces that may impact the business or customers and put plans into action to make a positive contribution.

  • Ability to work effectively as a member of different teams both internally and externally.
