At Wickes, we are committed to building skills in our communities and developing our colleagues. We are proud to celebrate our new colleague Mercy on her completion of our instore traineeship.
Gaining confidence
Mercy was looking for a role that would be flexible enough to fit around her studies, where she could also learn and develop her confidence and ultimately gain a paid role.
Mercy experiences social anxiety and struggles with low confidence. This meant that she was finding it difficult to find a part time job on her own. She felt the Traineeship would support her needs and help her gain confidence...
Overcoming social anxiety
I feel the traineeship has helped me with my confidence and social anxiety. It is a great way to get young people into work and grow their confidence as it is a gradual process. The modules helped me gain a better understanding of work and the sessions are really relaxed which helps with anxiety.
- Mercy, Wickes TraineeA great work ethic
Through our partnership with Qube, who deliver a range of training to individuals and teams via Apprenticeships, Mercy has really grown in confidence and shown a great work ethic. She will now be starting her full-time role in store.
We are proud to welcome Mercy to the Wickes team and can’t wait to see what she does next.
“Mercy has always attended work on time, and she uses her initiative to get things done doing. She has grown in confidence, and we have been impressed with her working attitude throughout the Traineeship. We are very happy to welcome her to the Wickes team.“
- Craig, Wickes Manager
